Wibert Aerts


Wibert Aerts (°1974) is a highly experienced chamber musician and violinist of the internationally praised chamber music quintet “Het Collectief”. He is also a violinist with a solid reputation, thanks to bold solo recitals focusing on the modern and present-day repertoire for solo violin. His solo record “Violin Faces” (released on the Fuga Libera label) was received with great critical acclaim by Le Monde de la Musique, Classiqueinfo, Resmusica, De Standaard and Knack.


Since 1998, Aerts has formed a duo with Spanish pianist Caridad Galindo and he has performed solo or as a chamber musician with amongst others Reinbert De Leeuw, Arie van der Beeck, Jonas Alber, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen, Alasdair Beatson and Roel Dieltiens. From 2011 to 2013, he was concert master and chamber musician of the renowned Doelensemble in Rotterdam. From 2012 to 2014, he was a member of the Taurus Quartet. Wibert Aerts is also a regular guest musician of both the Hermes and the Spectra ensemble.


Wibert performs all over Europe, in prestigious concert halls and at prominent festivals. His chamber music concerts have led him to other continents as well.


Since long, Wibert Aerts has been praised for his interpretations of new violin solo repertoire, thus regularly playing creations at festivals such as Ars Musica, Festival van Vlaanderen, Transitfestival (2013) and Klarafestival and in major venues including deSingel, Beursschouwburg, Amuz, Concertgebouw Brugge and Flagey. Several significant composers created solo pieces for him, among them L. Brewaeys, F. D’haene, J-P. Deleuze, V. Baltakas, B. van Camp and D. Janssens.


Aerts has released about ten successful records with works by Bach, Messiaen, Schönberg, Xenakis, Berio and many more.


Wibert Aerts teaches at the Conservatoire Royal de Mons.
