Martijn Dendievel associate conductor

Martijn Dendievel, ‘associate conductor’ at Flanders Symphony Orchestra

In the spring of 2018, Martijn Dendievel started as assistant-conductor with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra. From the 2023-24 season, Dendievel will continue his assistantship with the orchestra as ‘associate conductor’. During this period he will focus on Dvořák's oeuvre. From 13 to 19 January 2022, he will conduct 'From the New World'.

‘Associate conductor’ AT FSO 

Starting in 2018 the orchestra provides Martijn Dendievel with the opportunity to learn and grow, gain experience, and become familiar with the multi-faceted aspects of conductorship. As associate conductor, Dendievel will continue to be responsible for several talent development projects, including the SOV Young youth orchestra. In addition, starting in the 2023-24 season, he will conduct a production based on the symphonic works of Antonín Dvořák for three consecutive seasons.

Martijn Dendievel has been making a name for himself, also internationally. Among his most important recent achievements are: winner of the Deutscher Dirigentenpreis of the Deutscher Musikrat (2021); first prize in the Conductors' Academy organised by the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich and Paavo Järvi (2021); placement in the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam (to be held in 2022). At the beginning of 2022 he announced that he would be joining the internationally renowned agency IMG Artists.

From 13 to 19 January 2022, Martijn Dendievel will conduct A New World, the first official production for Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen which he will lead independently. He does so in the company of Dutch star violinist Rosanne Philippens in Concertgebouw Bruges, Muziekcentrum De Bijloke Ghent, DE SINGEL Antwerp and Stadsschouwburg Kortrijk.
