Educational activities
For kindergarten & primary school pupils
In cooperation with Muziekcentrum De Bijloke and Concertgebouw Brugge Flanders Symphony Orchestra organises educational activities. Ready to join us on a memorable journey full of discovery?
Quite an experience: listening to a real orchestra with many instruments in a large concert hall with almost 1,000 seats! The children can not only watch and listen, but also participate themselves. During the open rehearsal, they can perform a rehearsed piece of music together with the orchestra on the big stage.
On arrival at the Bijloke site, time is first made for a short introduction through a game. Weather permitting, we will do this outside. This is followed by a workshop. Together with a music teacher, the children do all kinds of musical activities and create their own piece of music with 'boomwhackers'. They also practise to play together with the orchestra afterwards.
Then: entry into the big concert hall, where they are introduced to the orchestra and get to perform the piece they have learned with the orchestra (and conductor). Finally, everyone takes their seats and an open rehearsal follows. All this takes about an hour and a half.
Beforehand, the teacher receives a lesson folder with numerous ideas and starting points around the theme 'Together greater, together we form a greater whole'.
Education
During every concert series, we open the doors of the concert hall to young ears. With a series of educational projects tailored to different age groups and educational goals, we introduce students to the world of classical music and the symphonic orchestra. Interactive initiations, playing music yourself and concluding tone moments are the three focal points of our educational offer.
