Assistant conductor

Martijn Dendievel

In the spring of 2018, Martijn Dendievel started as assistant-conductor with the Flanders Symphony Orchestra. In this way, the orchestra provides him with the opportunity to learn and grow, gain experience, and become familiar with the multi-faceted aspects of conductorship.

Martijn studied composition, music theory, cello and orchestral conducting at the Royal Brussels Conservatory. Currently he is studying at the renowned Hochschule für Music Franz Liszt in Weimar, Germany. During a number of seasons Martijn Dendievel will be assisting the chief conductor, take up responsibility for periods of rehearsal, and assume musical leadership for a number of projects. This will finally result in conducting an actual orchestral production.
