Music knows no boundaries and Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen takes that quite literally. With our education and outreach projects, we open our doors and go out ourselves. During our open rehearsals, we introduce pupils to the world of classical music and the symphony orchestra. We also visit schools, the children's hospital and the social neighbourhood restaurant. Our goal? Breaking down barriers, stimulating curiosity and making classical music accessible to everyone.
We are happy to open our doors to young and curious students: from kindergarten to high school. In collaboration with the Concertgebouw Brugge, music centre De Bijloke and Amaj vzw, we welcome pupils of all ages to our rehearsals. They learn about the orchestra, music and musical instruments. They are invited to conduct or play along.
And our musicians? They're happy to oblige!
With the SOV-Express, we go out in groups to bring music to people's living environment, far beyond the walls of the concert hall. Our playing domain for these outreach projects is the residential area of Nieuw Gent. We have already been guests at the children's hospital, the crèche, the primary schools, the open house for young mothers and the social neighbourhood restaurant. Our goal? Remove barriers, encourage curiosity and make classical music accessible to all.
