Kristiina Poska continues her much-lauded exploration of Beethoven with the composer's Symphony No. 2. Joie de vivre bursts forth as we are treated to the most dizzying turnarounds and daring contrasts: the work of a composer ready to go wherever his innovative notes would take him. Soloist Pavel Kolesnikov unleashes the poetry of his piano-playing on Beethoven's Emperor Concerto, while Estonian Erkki-Sven Tüür was exposed to so much Beethoven as a child, he eventually composed an ode to the master.
