Full of rage, Beethoven erased Napoleon’s name from the title page of his Third Symphony. But Beethoven’s dreams about liberty and equality still stand today. In contrast, the dreams evoked in Dutilleux’ Cello Concerto ‘Tout un monde lointain’... sound like a vague collection of whimsical shadows. Soloist Anne Gastinel bows her way through his rustling soundscapes with controlled passion. A lively confrontation between two influential dreamers.
