You will hear Rossini’s unpretentious yet lively overture from L’Italiana in Algeri next to Beethoven's heroic Third Piano Concerto. Like no other, pianist Ronald Brautigam merges sensuality with depth and authenticity. This highly contrasts with Puccini’s subdued elegy Crisantemi, which aptly precedes German brilliance. In his Fourth Symphony, Mendelssohn paints Italian landscapes con brio indeed.
