The young American Jonathon Heyward is a conductor to his fingertips: enrapturing and irresistible. In this programme, he deals with the Viennese classical composers. The sunny notes of Haydn’s surprising Symphony no. 101 (‘The Clock’) contrast with the ominous atmosphere of Mozart’s Piano Concerto no. 24, performed by Andrew Tyson. He and Heyward have known each other since their student days: a get-together of smart twenty-somethings with a warm musical heart – very promising indeed!
