The young Brahms went back and forth with the tunes of his first piano concerto. He was aiming for a symphony which eventually resulted in a monumental concerto. The rising star Marie-Ange Nguci combines youthful virtuosity with emotional maturity, just like Brahms originally did. Having a particular affection for music from the High North, Kristiina Poska’s interpretation of Sibelius’ First Symphony is a pure gem.
