Have you always dreamed of playing with a large symphony orchestra? Are you passionate about music and would you like to share it with the world? Would you like to make music together with professional musicians, in the heart of lively Ghent? Then Symphonic Mob© is made for you!

Ghent Festival, Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen and De Centrale invite all amateur musicians from Ghent and far beyond to play in the second Symphonic Mob© in Belgium during OdeGand. Saturday 13 September is your chance to be part of our country's biggest spontaneous orchestra!

Location: Poeljemarkt, under the city hall in Ghent

Schedule:

12:00 - 12:30: Reception of participants
13:00 - 14:00: Rehearsal
14:45 - 15:30: Symphonic Mob© @ OdeGand

  • Johannes Brahms - Hungarian Dance No 5
  • Jef Neve - Extract from First Symphony “The Ghent Symphony"
  • Klaus Badelt - Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Dmitri Shostakovich - Second Waltz

You can find the scores here.

The scores for Jef Neve's work will be available from 15 July.
The scores for Pirates of the Caribbean will come online during 17 June.
Guitarists will be contacted when the chords are all available (late June).

Participation is completely free.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, whether you are a string player, wind player, or percussionist, you are welcome.

A rehearsal is scheduled on Saturday 6 September from 17:00 to 19:00 at De Centrale (directions). Everyone is welcome!

The scores are available in both original and simplified versions, so there is no need to worry about the level of playing. It's all about having fun making music together.
