Aho ~ Concerto for harp and flute

Pinchuk SOV Composers’ Academy ~ creation: The years became silent

Mozart Symphony No. 40, KV 550

Belgian harpist Anneleen Lenaerts and flautist Marina Piccinini lead the way through a shiningly new double concerto, courtesy of Finnish composer Kalevi Aho. Don’t miss this one! Aho actually composed his work with Flanders Symphony Orchestra in particular in mind. Conductor Adrien Perruchon contrasts Aho’s light-footed, pastoral sound with the darker tones of Mozart’s second-to-last symphony. Wistful and turbulent, at times tender and even hopeful. An ode to the belief that the glass is always half-full.

a plea for the glass half full
